Philip Aldridge is Chief Executive of New Zealand’s largest theatre company, The Court Theatre in Christchurch, a city that was devastated by earthquakes in 2011. Like 15,000 other businesses in the city centre The Court lost its home but was the first institution in the city to re-launch in new premises becoming a beacon of hope in a city mired in insurance battles, a vast demolition programme, crippled infrastructure and inter-government agency tensions in the development of a rebuild plan.
Philip Aldridge trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School after reading history at Bristol University. After a decade in the theatre and television he changed tack and worked in corporate finance in London and the US. He emigrated to New Zealand in 2002.
