Lynsey Merrick joined The Lowry 3 years ago to manage both formal and informal learning programmes within the Community & Education team; including targeted work with vulnerable children and young people in Salford.
Much of her work aims to use the arts as a tool for social, educational and personal development within long term, sustained engagement projects with disadvantaged children and young people including Young Carers, Looked After Children and Young Parents; in partnership with Salford City Council.
Prior to her work at The Lowry, Lynsey worked as an Applied Theatre practitioner in regional theatres as well as within academic research settings. Previous work is mainly centred around using theatre and the arts as a tool to engage vulnerable or ‘At Risk’ Children & Young People in positive, life-transforming projects & programmes.
Motivated and energised by the inherent want to improve the lives of others, arts and culture is her weapon of choice.
